Today Dr. Shark presents you bhoot, from indian cinema. It’s pretty interesting movie and not like other indian horror movie turned into comedy. It goes something like this… Vishal and Swati meet, fall in love, and get married and buy an apartment in a good locality in Mumbai. After settling there, Swati finds out that the previous owner had been killed by committing suicide. Shortly thereafter she starts to visualize the suicide and hallucinates. When Vishal is told, he just shrugs this off, and even informs her that he knew about the death of the previous owner. Then someone kills the building watchman, and this matter is assigned to Police Inspector Qureshi, who begins his investigations, and concludes that this young couple have something to hide, and adds them as his prime suspects. Their claims that the watchman’s death was due to an unearthly being only adds to his suspicion, and he starts his plans to arrest them…

MINI PLOT: A lone cowboy with no memory of pas leads an uprising against a terror from beyond our world. 1873. Arizona Territory. The city is attacked by marauders from the sky. They all unite and  prepare for an epic showdown for survival.

MINI REVIEW: Movie looks about as western authentic as that Six Gun Territory attraction near Ocala that closed around the time Disney invaded Florida. The story started off decent and when the aliens first came to the old western town and attacked I was satisfied.The script is suitable for dialogue balloons, but that’s okay since it’s based on a comic book. And the aliens can be excused for resembling those fungus monsters that TV commercials warn are living under our toenails.his movie would have been better if it lived up to it’s name “Cowboys and Aliens” but sadly it was more “cowboys and a couple alien scenes.”

LIKES: Actors are so good at appearing convinced that this malarkey is really happening. Plot seems so stupid, but it seemed to work well. The fist fights between humans are brutal and visceral

DISLIKES: Storyline,action and thrills are underwhelming. Does not go with title

Peter Jackson’s another hit movie Dead alive, a nice watch, is a simple premise though with cartoonish tone. Plot is about a flesh eating zombie, which a  socially inept person(Timothy Balme)  tries to hide while maintaining a romance with Paquita.

His mother is bitten by a Sumatran rat-monkey at local zoo, who eventually gets sick and dies,and later gets back to life, killing and eating dogs, nurses, friends, and neighbors.

Climax: Our dear hero finally cuts a wide swath through the zombie  with the help of a rotary blade lawn mower, leaving the house awash in blood and body parts in order to save his romance. For more information please check imdb

MINI PLOT: A tire buried out in the desert comes to life. This piece of rubber exudes telepathic power and destroys anything that stands in its way, all the while being fixated on a beautiful young woman.

MINI REVIEW: Rubber starts off with a guy getting out of a car trunk and explaining several movies, for one reason or another, why things were done or not done, coming to the conclusion of “no reason”. So this movie hides behind the veil of; there isn’t going to be a reason why things happen and basically who cares.

The audience is then led to believe an ordinary car tire comes to life and has powers to blow up animals and humans just by vibrating. The whole movie takes place while there are tons of spectators in the desert watching through binoculars the action unfold. Of course you guessed it, this is comedy-horror, and this film tries so damn hard to be funny, it is just an utter disaster. I am getting so sick of these writers/directors feeding off the horror crowd by putting these slapstick movies out to the fans. Market this as comedy and leave us horror gurus alone.

This movie is just so bad with a capital B that it pains me to even write a review on it. But I am saving all you Macab-ites some dough. Rubber received a limited release for two weekends and only grossed $64 thousand. The DVD is slated to hit on June 7th everywhere even Wal-Mart. Every store is taking pre-orders and thankfully you are a devoted fan of Planet Macabre and I saved you $15 bucks and an hour and twenty minutes of your life. I am going to end the review with the mantra from Rubber, there is “no reason” whatsoever for you to watch this.

LIKES: The kahunas to show some animal mutilation scenes, snake-like sound when the tire bulges is decent.

DISLIKES: Overt stupid humor, absolutely zero storyline, many poor camera focusing shots, bad cut scenes.

MINI PLOT: A group of five sociopaths abduct, torture and kill innocent victims for kicks. But this time around on there seventh killing spree they face a few formidable foes and things end differently than expected.

MINI REVIEW: Australian horror movies have been on a role over the last few years, even in the independent category, with many good ones to choose from, but The 7th Hunt, an Ozploitation flick, just don’t cut it.

The five killers all have their own specialties and while some of the actors were believable, the film was a back and forth battle that really felt sloppy. The gore was mild and completely unbelievable. There is a part where a deaf chick is being scraped and dug into on her injured leg with a huge knife without any screams, grunts or groans. In another scene, a computer hacker gets his fingers cut off one by one, but still continues to type on a keyboard without exhibiting any pain whatsoever. There was even 2 scenes where the boom mike was clearly visible in the shots.

The 7th Hunt was released on DVD in February of this year and it has taken me awhile to watch and review it. I just wish I would of kept this one on the backburner wrapped in plastic and stowed away because this is not worth the hour and forty minutes of anyone’s time. Avoid this one, it is a jumbled mess.

LIKES: One actress dubbed “The Hand” (Tasneem Roc) shined, a good drugging scene with dream-like effects.

DISLIKES: Shaky cam in the beginning, story was stupid and ridiculous, movie was too long, some poor edits.
